Incredibles 2 is Pixar's long-awaited superhero sequel. Following the events of The Incredibles, the Parr family -- Bob (voiced by Craig T. Nelson), Helen (Holly Hunter), Violet (Sarah Vowell), Dash (Huck Milner), and baby Jack-Jack -- must balance regular family life with saving the world using their superpowers. The original movie had more action violence than most animated kids' movies, although everything was still cartoonish. But it was also a beautifully animated, hilarious take on superhero movies. You can probably expect a lot of the same here. It could be too intense for very young or sensitive kids, but it will surely be a fun summer movie for many families.
“Incredibles 2” picks up shortly after the previous film. Technically, “supers” are still outlawed in America, but society is starting to reconsider, and super-parents Bob and Helen Parr are approached with a chance to win over the public. Whereas Bob wrestled with the thought of hanging up his cape and tights, Helen had no problem making the family her priority before. So, for the sequel, Bird asked the question, “What if they switched roles? What if the first mission went to Helen instead of Bob?” Meanwhile, when it came to the three kids, Bird says, “I knew I had the unwrapped present of the family discovering Jack-Jack’s powers. The audience knew it from the first movie, but his parents haven’t seen what he can do.”
Incredibles 2 is an upcoming American 3D computer-animated superhero film, and a sequel to the 2004 film The Incredibles. It is in production by Pixar Animation Studios and will be released by Walt Disney Pictures. It is being written and directed by Brad Bird, who also wrote and directed the first film. Craig T. Nelson, Holly Hunter, Sarah Vowell, Samuel L. Jackson, John Ratzenberger, and Brad Bird reprise their characters from the first film. They are joined by Huck Milner and Jonathan Banks, in roles from the first film; with Bob Odenkirk, Catherine Keener, Sophia Bush and Isabella Rossellini, voicing new characters
Everyone's favorite family of superheroes is back in "Incredibles 2"--but this time Helen (voice of Holly Hunter) is in the spotlight, leaving Bob (voice of Craig T. Nelson) at home with Violet (voice of Sarah Vowell) and Dash (voice of Huck Milner) to navigate the day-to-day heroics of "normal" life. It's a tough transistion for everyone, made tougher by the fact that the family is still unaware of baby Jack-Jack's emerging superpowers. When a new villain hatches a brilliant and dangerous plot, the family and Frozone (voice of Samuel L. Jackson) must find a way to work together again--which is easier said than done, even when they're all Incredible.
The trope was famously lampooned in R-rated Marvel adaptation Deadpool in 2016, where the mouthy anti-hero (played by Ryan Reynolds) points out superpowered bad guy Angel Dust (Gina Carano) is “gonna do a superhero landing.”
When the superstrong henchwoman leaps from up high, landing with her fist and knee pressed into the earth, Deadpool cheers, “Whoo! Superhero landing!” Then, addressing the audience, “You know, that’s really hard on your knees. Totally impractical, they all do it.”
A compilation of the overused trope was published to YouTube in 2012, where it has been viewed more than 1.1 million times. In it, it shows the three-point landing flourish as seen in everything from Iron Man 2 and The Avengers to Blade and Spider-Man 2.
Incredibles 2 resumes where The Incredibles ends, with the introduction of the villain The Underminer (John Ratzenberger).[4] The Parr family struggles to maintain normal lives while Helen (Holly Hunter), as Elastigirl, to fight crime and campaign for the return of "supers"; while Bob (Craig T. Nelson), also known as Mr. Incredible, stays at home caring for their children Violet (Sarah Vowell), Dash (Huck Milner) and Jack-Jack, discovering the baby's secret powers in the process. Also, the Parrs and their ally Frozone (Samuel L. Jackson) find they must battle a new villain, who goes by the name of Screenslaver.
Despite the influx of superhero movies and interconnected universes like the Marvel Cinematic Universe, launched in 2008, and the DC Extended Universe, launched in 2013, Bird said Incredibles 2 will stand out because of its storytelling and fresh perspective.
