After undergoing qualifying and making sure to qualify for the 2018 World Cup finals by winning four consecutive wins, Germany actually reap a series of bad results in test matches ahead of going to Russia.

Starting from three draws against England, France and Spain, Joachim Loew's squad went on to defeat in the next two matches, beating Brazil and Austria.

Luckily, Germany reap victory in the final test match despite only a thin score of 2-1 over Saudi Arabia. This situation makes Mario Gomez and his friends must be vigilant when appearing in the real event in Russia.

The first rivals that Germany has to face is not an easy opponent, Mexico. However, Mexico was not too good during the test matches.

In his last 5 test matches, Javier Hernandez and his friends only won twice, draw once, and lost twice. In the last friendly match, against fellow teams participating in the 2018 World Cup, Denmark, Mexico tumbled with the score 0-2.

Germany vs Mexico game will be proving the consistency of both teams, especially for Panzer team who hold the title as defending champion, also Mexico who often became the most dangerous black horses in major events.

German world champions understand the need to improve their playing pattern when starting their defensive champions against Mexico on Sunday if they want to ensure their status as a tournament favorite.

Germany played qualifying matches perfectly winning a total of 10 matches, conceding only four goals in the process, and also winning the Confederations Cup last year. However, their final performance is far from being a World Cup winner.

"We know we need to improve our game," the 2014 World Cup winner Toni Kroos said this week. "It's the absolute thing that will be the deciding factor and every one of us needs to keep confidence in. Both things will be decisive in this tournament." Coach Joachim Loew has won just one victory in their last six international matches - a 2-1 victory over Saudi Arabia in last weekend's warm-up match - and only made one match without conceding.

Their preparation is also overshadowed by the anger of German society caused by the photos of Ilkay Gundogan and Mesut Ozil with Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan.

Both players of Turkish descent had to deal with derision in the last game and the matter had not subsided even after they arrived in Russia.

The photographs sparked a storm of criticism from lawmakers across the political spectrum of Germany and the country's football federation, all of whom argue that Erdogan does not adequately honor German values.

But given Germany's record as a tournament star with at least one semi-final place in the last four rounds of the World Cup, some will risk betting against those ready on Sunday, especially after crushing Mexico 4-1 in the Confederations Cup last year.

"We often prove we were there when it started," Kroos said.

Meanwhile, Mexico must face their own small scandal after eight players staged a party late into the night following a friendly against Scotland earlier this month, and the country's football association threw their support behind the players.

The countries of Central America, who have reached the last 16 of the last six World Cups, must quickly rise from their break if they do not want to be defeated by their unsuspecting opponents, as other teams managed to do so recently, including Saudi Arabia.

Mexico's top international scorer Javier Hernandez may not be a starter today but his speed will be useful for Juan Carlos Osorio's team.

The Mexican coach remained silent about his strategy and in very little warm-up he reveals how he plans to stop Germany. Mexico's only win in 11 games against them has been since 1985.

"We should not underestimate them even if we beat them last year," said German midfielder Sami Khedira. "We consider this game very, very seriously, we can not just rely on our quality." South Korea and Sweden are the other two teams in Group F, in addition to Germany and Mexico.

Germany shows high-class efficiency in this fight. Despite losing control of the ball, Germany still able to win 4-1. Leon Goretzka scored two quick goals while Timo werner and Amin Younes each scored a goal for Germany. Meanwhile, Mexico replied one over Marco Fabian golazo.

Germany which this time represented many of their young players have appeared kicked off from the beginning. While Mexico is still trying to regulate the tempo in order to dominate the ball, Germany is playing efficiently.

Mexico does not seem ready to face the German aggressiveness. Two goals were created for Germany in the first eight minutes of the match, and both were scored by Leon Goretzka.

Goretzka scored the first goal in the sixth minute. Goretzka seized the ball in midfield and then sent it to Henrichs who was combing on the left wing. Henrich then returned the ball to Goretzka who ran up outside Mexico's penalty box. Goretzka also opened a long-range shot that lodged in the goalkeeper Ochoa.

Two minutes later, the Germans scored again with a counterattack. Timo Werner snatched the ball off Moreno's leg and then took off a beautiful breakthrough pass which was continued with a shot by Goretzka. Score was changed to 2-0.

Conceded two quick goals, Mexico was snapped up. They become more aggressive and able to dominate the game for the rest of the first half. But the dominance of Mexico was not able to produce many dangerous opportunities. The first half was closed with a score of 2-0 for Germany.

Entering the second half, the game again balanced and more interesting. The German game improved so the two teams could fight each other and create opportunities for opportunities.

But Germany's efficiency can not be matched by Mexico. Action runs for about an hour, Timo Werner brings Germany ahead further. Cooperation of the German players able to tear apart the defense of Mexico. Jonas Hector lured all Mexican players to the left and then sent the ball to Werner who stood freely in front of goal. Werner was just directing the ball into the goal that was empty.

The match re-heats up in the last minute. Mexico could finally score through Marco Fabian in the 89th minute. Golazo Fabian is created from a curling long-range shot that can not be driven by Ter Stegen.

But in injury time, Amin Younes again brought Germany away. Again, the Mexican defense seemed so easy to pass. Younes was unmarked on the left side of the penalty box and he was able to outwit Ochoa by pointing the ball to the far post. Final score 4-1 to victory Germany.

With this result, Germany deserves to qualify for the final to face Chile. Meanwhile, Mexico will fight for the top three by facing Portugal.
